Just one thing, I noticed that the deviantART logo at the top doesn't work in deviantSKIN, I had this problem too and managed to fix it.
all you need to do is take out -
position:relative!important;- from -#deviantART #head h1 a{- and all should be fine.I tried what you suggested but it didn't work, what seems to have happened is the "deviant" is now missing and the "ART" is there, but still cut off like that. I tried for ages playing around with sizes and positioning and still couldn't get it to work. I'm probably missing something really obvious.
